The Angara icebreaker and the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station

The Angara Icebreaker is one of the oldest surviving icebreakers in the world (launched in 1900). Now it is a floating museum dedicated to shipping on Lake Baikal. The icebreaker is located close to the hydroelectric dam, which is the favorite place of Irkutsk citizens for jogging and cycling. The dam offers a magnificent panoramic view of the city, that is especially beautiful during the sunset. In winter the bay near the icebreaker turns into a skating rink and everyone can go skating there. An ice town, which is popular among the citizens, is also constructed on the shores of Angara.
